Preserving the environment is not a project since it has always been here in Faug\u00e8res.
\n<\/span>Our domain itself remains intact thanks to the implication of many generations in a viticulture that :<\/span><\/p>\n

Innovates:<\/strong> first local planting of syrah from massal selection, first ageing in oak barrels, first local bottling made at the domain by Gilbert Alquier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Respects its terroir:<\/strong> Voluntarily limited yields (20 hL\/hectare), no fertilizerbut organic amendments, organic inputs exclusively.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2018, our domain has started a very wide agro-ecological plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

In this context we have earned a certification for High Environmental Value – HEV, the following year. This certification recognizes the seriousness of the work and the care given to sustainable practices to preserve this environment of great wild energy in the Parc R\u00e9gional du Haut Languedoc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Input strategy<\/h4>

With organic practices and a limitation to their frequency, according to the saying, \u201cThe best treatment is the one you don\u2019t have to make\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Protecting the biodiversity<\/h4>

Our vineyards are surrounded by woods, garrigues and dry stone walls. This favours an ecosystem that in turn protects our plants and maintains the ripening balance of our grapes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Water resources management<\/h4>

A vital challenge for our vineyards (among others) in the long term. No irrigation at all, thus favouring the quality of grapes grown on a plant that digs deep in the ground to find its nutrients and water.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Fertilization management<\/h4>

We prefer amendments that nourish the soils to fertilizers that will end up tiring the plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

We will extend this project by leading an organic agriculture<\/span><\/p>\n

And other initiative complement this movement :\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Installation of Pipistrella shelters – small bat that preys on grape moths
\n<\/span>Optimized grass cover from winter to spring
\n<\/span>Creation of biodiversity homes with the restoration of dry-stone walls, sheepfold and <\/span>capitelles <\/span><\/i>(dome-shaped shelters) with the help of the Faug\u00e8res association \u201cPierre Vie\u201d. Dry stone construction is a savoir-faire recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage in 2019.
\n<\/span>And our social commitment to favour local employment by always choosing geographically close workers to work the vineyards and local artisans for our facilities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

This agri-environmental approach, while not a goal per se,
\n<\/span>r<\/span>ecognizes the seriousness of the work and the attention paid to sustainable practices that help preserving the wild beauty of the Parc R\u00e9gional du Haut Languedoc<\/span><\/p>\n

For us, it is the acknowledgement of a fair agriculture, sharing benefits between the land its winegrower, humanist and conscientious. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
